Contacting the KIA Egregore with Ouija board!

It was the October full moon as we opened the 2013 KIA retreat, and it seemed like a good night to talk to the KIA Egregore. In the past we’ve done this via a computer program that randomly combines sentences provided by various KIA agents. But that program is currently broken, and besides, this time we decided to opt for something a bit more Victoriana: an English Qabalah ouija board.

After opening the rite with a KIA IAO Centring ritual, we sat around the board and began our first experiments with the board. The atmosphere was relaxed and at first we had to try out a few different items as a planchette, ultimately settling upon an upturned glass tealight holder.

Even then it seemed reluctant to move from ‘Hello’, once it had moved there, so we stopped for a break and practised some glossolalia to shift conscious awareness away from the rational part our minds.

What follows is an account of the conversation with the spirit that followed.  In italics are the questions we spoke aloud to the spirit, in bold are its messages to us. Some of these messages need to be deciphered using English Qabalah. We will make a post about those later. The board has spaces for Hello, Bye, Yes and No, in addition to the letters of the English alphabet.

  1. I’ve granted Allen Greenfield, (Tau Sirhasirim) permission to repost this report on his livejournal. He has added to the post with a rather interesting account of a similar communication by himself and Michael Bertiaux using dice, rather than a board and planchette. Be warned, it appears as a poor quality scan from a fanzine or magazine of sorts, and some of the text disappears off the side of the image, but you can work out what is missing:

  2. I hadn’t noticed before, but the final part includes a letter of thanks to Allen from Michael Bertiaux.

The similarity of these systems is in that they both produced communications in the form of seemingly random sequences of letters and yes/no binary answers.

The random letter sequences can no doubt be interpreted in various ways, one of which is using the English Qabalah cipher to calculate a numerical value and then finding words and phrases from a relevant text (such as Liber Al), that match the same value. Software such as EnigMagick helps with this.

  3. @sally Myself and @lolita are currently analysing the results, but as you say, some of the numbers produce long lists in EnigMagick, and it can take a while to work out what KIA meant to say. We will be making a post soon with the results, or maybe multiple posts if we think some parts deserve a more in depth look.
