Tarot reading on future of KIA

For this reading, performed on Tuesday 2nd June, Dana and I employed the ‘think I should do’ tarot spread and used the Medieval Scapini Deck. This was a deck we purchased after seeing it appear in a Daisy Chainsaw video some years back. We performed this reading with the intent of sharing it as an example of how useful this otherwise humorous spread can be.

So for the cards we decided they meant:

  1. What the KIA egregore thinks it should do.
  2. What Dana and I think KIA should do.
  3. What KIA will probably do.
  4. What KIA should actually do.

Reading left to right, top to bottom the cards were then chosen as follows:

tarot-on-future-of-kia-201506

  1. II The Popess
  2. VIIII The Hermit
  3. 9 of Cups
  4. X Wheel of Fortune

1. The egregore wants us to be less emotional, in order to create a more detached learning environment. Teachers motivated by justice.

2. We are not far off what the egregore wants with our own intentions, but we have a tendency to desire more solitude and secrecy. In comparison the egregore would want us to be more forthcoming in sharing and utilising our knowledge and experience.

3. We are none-the-less headed for victory.

4. So we should leave things to fate.

Other notes on this reading include noticing that Dana and I have had a tendency towards ‘male’ magical archetypes and systems, whilst the egregore wants more feminine.

Return of KIA Speaks

When performing the ‘summoning storm’ operation recently I had a surprise apparition of the KIA Egregore who requested I restore her KIA Speaks program. Last night I got this restored, at least in a basic form.

Originally each member of KIA had to submit some number of sentences to the KIA Egregore, I think perhaps three, before they were admitted into KIA. The KIA Speaks program would then select five of these at random to create a unique paragraph. This served as a kind of divination tool for contact with the Egregore, available to all members and even non-members who clicked on the page.

This new version does not require all agents submit sentences, but each agent may contribute sentences to the egregore as they please. To do so, please visit the KIA Speaks source quotes page and leave a comment with a single sentence. (Multi sentence comments will be deleted). Ideas for comments include:

  • Something you thought of yourself, maybe a personal catch-phrase.
  • A favourite line from a book, comic, film, essay, blog post or poem.
  • Take a book you like and pick a page at random, then select a sentence from that page, maybe also at random.
  • A line from the KIA litany.
  • The motto of a group or organisation you feel aligned to.

But really your imagination is the limit here. Lets get as many quotes into KIA Speaks as possible!

To start her off again, I selected 73 sentences from the old KIA Speaks, those preserved for all time by the Internet Archive. But these will soon get repetitive if we don’t expand her collection.

Finally, you probably want to try out listening to what she has to say. You can do so on the KIA Speaks page. This looks a bit rough at the minute, but I’ll slowly improve it as I add more features.

KIA Speaks source quotes

This is not a normal blog post. No discussion happens in the comments of this post. Instead it is used for the source quotes for the KIA Speaks feature.

To submit a sentence to the egregore, post it as a comment in reply to this blog post. Comments with more than one sentence will be rejected and deleted. Single sentences will be approved.

You are also invited to rate sentences. In this way a more advanced future version of the KIA Speaks software may give preference to sentences that resonate with multiple agents of the egregore.

KIA Egregore group sigil charging.

On Sunday evening, towards the close of the retreat weekend, we started creating a mass sigil, to be charged by the KIA egregore. As preparation I had created a pencil outline of a kind of KIA logo that combines elements of current, previous and possible future KIA logos. These elements include a shatkona, a vesica pisces containing an eye, Austin Spares glyph for Kia, and Michael Moorcock’s sigil of chaos. I did so on a large A2 sized sheet of cartridge paper which I taped to a wooden board. I provided black, red, blue and green marker pens of two different thicknesses for agents to draw their sigils.

DSCF9065

I had invited those not able to attend to submit sigils online, in a post on Crowleymas, (Oct 12th). I made sure that external submissions were included in the final design.  As we sat and talked, we took turns adding to the sigil, each of us making several visits and adding more each time. As we went to bed on Sunday night, the sigil remained unfinished, so we left out and continued on Monday morning over a casual breakfast.

This was the result:

You can help charge it using whatever method of sigil charging suits you. Probably staring at it for a short while will do the trick…

Contacting the KIA Egregore with Ouija board!

It was the October full moon as we opened the 2013 KIA retreat, and it seemed like a good night to talk to the KIA Egregore. In the past we’ve done this via a computer program that randomly combines sentences provided by various KIA agents. But that program is currently broken, and besides, this time we decided to opt for something a bit more Victoriana: an English Qabalah ouija board.

After opening the rite with a KIA IAO Centring ritual, we sat around the board and began our first experiments with the board. The atmosphere was relaxed and at first we had to try out a few different items as a planchette, ultimately settling upon an upturned glass tealight holder.

ouija1

Even then it seemed reluctant to move from ‘Hello’, once it had moved there, so we stopped for a break and practised some glossolalia to shift conscious awareness away from the rational part our minds.

What follows is an account of the conversation with the spirit that followed.  In italics are the questions we spoke aloud to the spirit, in bold are its messages to us. Some of these messages need to be deciphered using English Qabalah. We will make a post about those later. The board has spaces for Hello, Bye, Yes and No, in addition to the letters of the English alphabet.

Hello KIA.

Preparation for Egregore sigil charging ritual

With the the KIA retreat starting in less than a week, I have some last minute preparations to do. As I was preparing a mass sigil charging rite to be empowered by the KIA Egregore, it occurred to me that we could accept sigil submissions from those of you who can not attend in body.

You can expect a full write-up of how this and other rituals went, after the event.

You can attach images of any sigils you want included in the ritual in the comments below.

KIA Retreat – October 2013

First off, for various reasons I won’t go into, we can no longer do the retreat on our prefered dates of Crowleymas this year.  But if we get two or three more confirmations, we CAN do it the following week.

UPDATE: The retreat is going ahead this weekend, with at least 5 people in attendance, however it might not be at any of the places mentioned below. Any new comers with whom we haven’t had existing contact should at this point meet with us prior to the retreat itself. A good place. and possibly the only opportunity to do this, is at the Open Circle Moot on Wednesday 16th.  The greyed out text below is no longer the plan, but is left in place so you can see what we originally intended for the retreat.

That will mean arriving at Loch Ness on Friday 18th of October, and leaving on Monday 21st.

Second, the Lodge, as we know from last year, has one master double room with balcony and spring bath, one double bedroom and one twin room with two single beds.  It seems a little unfair to charge the same price for all these options, so this year we would like to divide the cost up as follows:

Master double: £235 (can sleep two).

Double: £210 (can sleep two).

Twin: £180 (can sleep two).

Total cost of lodge is £625.

The hot tub on the veranda is available to all staying in the lodge.

So far, we have three confirmed guests, including myself and Lolita who are happy to take the Master bedroom.  Our other guest is a single male who would occupy one of the beds in the twin room.  This means we can accommodate one other couple and another single in this lodge.

If we got another 4-6 guests in addition to this we could book two lodges, or if we got 1-3 extra there is a B&B nearby that can offer accommodation at similar prices.  But not self catering.

If however, we don’t get any more confirmations, the meeting this year will not be held in a lodge at all.  It doesn’t make sense for us to book the lodge at £200 each, as I originally posted.  I think that is too expensive for us all.  As cool as the weekend is.  Let me know what you all want to do.

Order? Membership?

I’ve been thinking about some of the wording I used to describe KIA lately. The main wiki page said we were ‘A decentralised order of sorcery’.  And other parts of the site talk about ‘membership’.  Well, I don’t think KIA has ever been an ‘order’, and their is no organisation which one might be a ‘member’ of so what is all this talk of ‘order’ and ‘membership’?

I’ve updated the main wiki page now to describe KIA as ‘a decentralised network of sorcerers’.  It may not be the best phrase, but its better than ‘order’.  I’m also thinking that the wording of ‘membership’ on other parts of the site may be replaced with the term ‘participation’.  KIA doesn’t seek ‘members’ but ‘participants’.  We don’t ‘belong’ to an egregore as its ‘members’.  We participate in the egregore, as participants.  We each choose a level of participation with which we feel personally comfortable.  The word order gives the impression of an organisation.  The only order in KIA emerges from our collective participation.

Having an account on this website does not really guarantee participation.  Indeed there are over 400 accounts on the website but only a small proportion actively participate in the egregore to my knowledge.  And some sorcerers that do participate, don’t have accounts.

So enough with the old aeon language! I think it gives totally the wrong impression…

Kia IAO Centring Ritual

Following the excellent suggestion of Hippi to share more magical practice on the site, and her recommendation of describing the feelings of our practise, I thought about an exercise we can all take part in.  It is a simple centring ritual, sometimes known as a ‘banishing ritual’.  To participate in this group exercise, perform the following ritual in your own time and make a special note of any sensations and feelings that occur to you as you do it.  If you don’t wish to participate, kindly refrain from commenting on this post.

The ritual chosen for this exercise is the Kia IAO Centring Ritual I recently posted on the wiki.  I reproduce it below for your convenience:

Kia

  1. Stand still with one arming pointing upwards and one downwards, like in the picture of Baphomet by Eliphas Levi.
  2. Take a deep breath inwards.
  3. On the out-breath vibrate the word ‘Kia’, like ‘Kiiiiiiaaaaaaaaa’.
  4. Visualise Austin Osman Spare’s glyph for Kia over your heart chakra.

I

  1. Raise both hands above your head, palms together, as you breath in deeply.
  2. On the out-breath vibrate the vowel ‘I’, like ‘Iiiiieeeeeeeeeeeee’. High pitch.
  3. Visualise a pillar or axis of light extending from your heart up to the heavens and down deep into the earth.

A

  1. Lower both arms so that they point outwards to your left and right, forming a cross, as you breath in deeply.
  2. Vibrate the vowel ‘A’ on the out-breath, like ‘Aaaaarrrrrrrrhhhhhhhh’. Medium pitch.
  3. Visualise a horizontal axis of light that crosses the vertical one exactly at your heart chakra.

O

  1. Lower both arms, bending the elbows and form an ‘O’ with the hands, such that your thumbs are close to your solar plexus and your fingers near your navel. Breath in deeply as you do so.
  2. On the out-breath, vibrate the vowel ‘O’, like ‘Oooooooooooooooooooo’. Low pitch.
  3. Visualise yourself, (or the ritual space), enclosed in an egg, about which circles an Ouroborus.

KIA Crowleymas Retreat in Loch Ness 2013

After the success of the 2012 KIA retreat on Loch Ness, we have decided to organise one again this year.  This time we are giving several months more notice so more of you can save up the cash and make necessary arrangements to attend.

NOTICE: The dates and prices mentioned below have been changed.

I will organise accommodation for the weekend of Oct 11th, 12th and 13th (now Oct 18th-21st) as we did last year.  To cover deposits and worst case numbers I will need £200GBP (now rooms range from £180-235, meaning a single attendee sharing a room could be as cheap as £90GBP) in advance from each attendee, with possible refunds if numbers work our better than expected. Or I can use any excess to group order the food for the weekend.  Let me know if you require a single or double bedroom, and whether you are willing to share a room.

For those of you who didn’t make it last year, this is what to expect:

    1. Rituals, we performed several over the last retreat.
    2. Quiet time.  Plenty of time for meditation, divination etc.
    3. Walks in a Scots pine forest, taking in the beautiful Falls of Foyers, a beautiful tree covered gorge and down to the shores of Loch Ness itself.

Walks to Boleskine cemetary, opposite Crowley’s old house (now a private residence, so show consideration when there).

  1. Depending on how many people, and where you get accommodated, the facilities are amazing.  One B&B has a no children policy, ensuring a level of peace and quiet.  The self catering lodges come equipped with outdoor hot tubs and spa baths.
  2. The chance to meet and socialise with the fellow magicians you commune with frequently on this site.

Hope to see as many as possible of you there!
